2024年7月，罗伯茨在自己家中为儿子举办生日派对时，对这名未成年男孩实施性侵。当时她仍任德里德市市长。
检察官曾要求法院判处最高17年的刑期，理由是罗伯茨未能为自己的行为承担责任。但最终，法官判处罗伯茨90天监禁，外加两项缓期执行的五年有期徒刑。法官还下令她接受心理治疗、登记为性犯罪者，并定期接受药物和酒精测试。
福克斯新闻网援引KPLC报道，罗伯茨和她十几岁儿子之间的短信记录被展示给陪审团，其中，两人讨论了派对上青少年们想要什么酒水。
派对当晚的其他短信显示，罗伯茨的儿子称，当时的情况“太疯狂了”，并告诉罗伯茨，自己的妹妹情绪激动。
报道称，罗伯茨的女儿出庭作证时表示，聚会当晚，她目睹了母亲与受害者“纠缠在一起”。罗伯茨的前夫邓肯·克兰顿（Duncan Clanton）在法庭上作证称，罗伯茨曾承认与那名十几岁的男孩发生过性关系，而且夫妻两人的孩子亲眼所见。
在宣判前，受害者的母亲指责罗伯茨害了托她照看的孩子。
她在法庭上形容罗伯茨是“一个接了发、穿着高跟鞋、打了肉毒杆菌、做过其他整容手术的捕食者”。
她补充说，她发现自己的儿子独自坐在房间里，晚上听到他哭泣。
她对罗伯茨说：“离我的家人远点！”
罗伯茨在法庭上称自己的余生都将在自责中度过。她告诉受害者家属，对他们所承受的痛苦和难堪感到抱歉。
